Just a Quick Snapshot or Two

This weekend I pulled together some models to send to a Trunk Show at Nordic Needle, in Fargo, North Dakota, for the month of June. This is one I'm sending, called "Ducks In A Pond" which is built around a quilt block of the same name.  Can you pick out the ducks in the middle?  Or the zig zag track of webbed feet in the border?   It's a fun mix of simple stitches and serene colors.

I stitched the model in blues & greens, using Watercolours 229 - "Oasis" and I love these summery colors.  But I was curious to see what it might look like in other colors, such as teals and tans:

 or maybe purples and browns:

Totally changes the feel of the design, doesn't it?

Anyway, I just thought it would be fun to share these with you....

Also, I wanted to mention that I've started posting snapshots of my projects - new and old - on INSTAGRAM.  So if you ever go looking at photos there, try my hashtag #laurajperindesigns to see what I've posted thus far.  It's also fun to check out the other needlepoint sites as well (there are some stitchers, shops, and finishing posts to view).  Try looking under #needlepoint, and #countedcanvaswork (I think I started this one, so there's not much available yet).  It's a very fun way to get some quick stitching inspiration!.

FRIDAY FLOWERS: A New Cyber Class - Woo Hoo!

Are you in the mood to stitch some cheerful flowers?  How about a bouquet of daisies to brighten up your summer days?   I'm pleased to share with you my next new cyber class, called DAISY CHAIN:

I was in the mood to whip up a fun, easy floral piece and this is what I came up with.  It's based on an older design (with the same name) I did many years ago... but this time around I wanted to stitch fewer rows of small daisies, and add a bigger, more interesting floral outer border
-- hence this revised-but-totally-new piece -- it makes me smile every time I look at it!
I love the new outer border, that alternates medium-sized daisies with bunches of smaller ones, like this:

It's a 9" x 9" piece, done on a 13" x 13" piece of 18 ct. sage green mono canvas, using a handful of fresh bright pearl cottons matching a variegated Watercolours thread.  And while I stitched the model in yellow and white daisies, I've also created fresh and airy PINK and BLUE thread versions, so each stitcher can choose their own favorite palette.  Here are the thread options for the new DAISY CHAIN cyber class:

So if you're crazy about daisies, and would like to join this fun new class in July, please skip on over to my website and read all the class information.... and HAPPY WEEKEND, STITCHERS!
